Hey Ogos! I hope you’re all fired up for this season, I know I am. If you've never met me before, I'm sure you've heard me cheering on our swimmers or coaching on the pool deck.
I've been coaching with the Ogopogos for 5 years, and this will be my first season as Head Coach. I'm coaching group 5 again this summer, but I'm around the pool all the time. I'm passionate about getting swimmers to be the best they can be, as both an athlete and a person. My main coaching quality is probably the volume of my voice, I kid I kid... And my favourite part about swim meets is the car karaoke and leading club cheers. I'm attending UBCO right now, and hope to become a teacher in the near future! Come say hi on deck!
Assistant Head Coach
This will be my 5th summer season as coach for the Ogos and my first season as Assistant Head Coach, and I couldn't be more excited. I started swimming as an Ogie at age 5 and began volunteer coaching at 14. My favourite part of summer swimming was always training with my friends, so much so that I've kept swimming with a just for fun swim club while at University. (I still train with Coach Emmy - remember her?) I look forward to sharing what I love to do with all of you! I just finished my third year of university and my forst year in the Doctorate of Pharmacy program at UBC Vancouver. I will be doing a practicum in May, so come visit me at the Pharmacy or on the pool deck !
I’m really excited to be joining the Ogo coaching staff this summer!
I started swimming at the age of 6 with Liquid Lightning Swim Club and competed with them for 12 years. I was coached by Emil Dimitrov in my last 6 years. I qualified for AAA Provincials in Backstroke, Butterfly and Breastroke and made numerous provincial finals, individually and as a member of relay teams! I competed Nationally; qualifying for Westerns, Canadian Nationals and Mel Zajac Junior International meets in Backstroke and Butterfly. I was also co-captain of the Mount Boucherie Senior Secondary Swim Team. At the end of High School, I elected to attend Simon Fraser University and became a member of the Varsity Swim team for my first 2 years. I’m currently finishing my third year at SFU working towards a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. During the year, I am a volunteer coach for the Vancouver Special Olympics Swim Team. My favourite part about swimming was being able to push myself physically and mentally everyday alongside some of my best friends, and that I could eat a lot
When I’m not at the pool, you can usually find me outside; running, hiking or enjoying the Kelowna Summer. I also love to cook and travel. My favorite food is tacos and I love all baked goods. My favourite movie is Finding Nemo!
I believe that proper technique is the most important aspect in fast swimming! I am passionate about the sport of swimming and pushing kids to be the best athlete and person they can be. I hope to share my knowledge with all of you and provide a fun and exiting environment that allows you to love the sport like I do!
